Natural Bridge

Natural Bridge is a nice arch which is just off the road to Rainbow Point. Lots of Spring breakers in the park this week. A little more snow is forecast for this weekend. The trails are slippery and muddy, but open for hiking.

Winter Returns

After a long stretch of clear, warm and dry weather here Winter has returned. Snow showers and temps in the 20s for the next few days. This morning as I was running along the rim my flash caught the snow flakes. Right now it is sunny. A dusing of snow is put down as the sun removes it. Typical dramatic March weather.

Capitol Reef

Yesterday I did the easy 3.5 mile Chimney Rock loop at Capitol Reef. A very beautiful and geologically interesting hike.

Sunrise

Sunrise is now early enough, 6:59 am, that I can see it on my morning run and still get to work by 8. Canaan Peak is to the left of the sun, with Navajo Mt. to the right 82 miles away. Another pristine day here. Not much snow left. Only 2.4 inches of snow in February with 29.4 for the season. An average Winter gets 96 inches of snow. It was 20 degrees this morning going up to about 50 this afternoon. It feels like Spring. The birds are chirping in the morning and there are reports that some Praire Dogs have come out of hibernation.
